PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Howarth of London is the UK's leading manufacturer of high-quality Oboes and retailer of Woodwind Instruments. We are seeking a full-time Engineering Workshop Operative to work in our Engineering Department at our Manufacturing Division in Worthing. The successful candidate will have a passion for creating high quality components using a variety of machines and equipment. The role demands great precision, an eye for detail and working to fine tolerances. Training will be given.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Can-Do Approach energetic person to help with CNC machine preparation and operation tasks.
Mechanical and technical backgrounds would be an advantage.
Meticulous and clean, to keep our premises in good order to reflect our approach of our products.
Tasks include but are not limited to: loading/unloading materials into machines, setting up of machines including tool fitment etc, ensuring quality of components is kept to a high standard while machining is taking place, cleaning components, inventory management, maintenance of machines.
Using precision workshop machinery and working within fine tolerances.
Working with other team members to achieve production goals.
Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Essential
Knowledge and aptitude for working with metal milling/turning machines.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Demonstrate a high level of quality control.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Enthusiasm, flexibility and willingness to learn a new craft.
Diligent and conscientious approach to safety guidelines and good working practices.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain a positive working relationship with managers and colleagues.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a manufacturing environment.
Desirable
Previous experience in machining preferred but not essential as training will be given.
Experience in the setting up/use of Swiss sliding head milling/turning machines would be an advantage.
Understanding of SolidWorks and SolidCAM.
