Purpose of the role:

To lead the Engineering and Maintenance function to ensure equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all assets and infrastructure. This includes responsibility for preventative and corrective maintenance, utilities, contractor management, and capital project execution to support a safe, efficient, and quality-focused manufacturing environment aligned to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, coach, and develop the Engineering & Maintenance team to achieve high performance and reliability
standards;

Build a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement; Manage team performance, succession planning, training, and skills development. Own and optimise the site's preventative maintenance (PM) programme; Minimise unplanned downtime and improve OEE through proactive planning and asset care strategies; Monitor and analyse maintenance KPIs, trends, and reliability data to inform decisions; Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for recurring issues. Manage and deliver capital projects from concept to completion (equipment upgrades, utilities, facilities, etc.); Coordinate contractor activities on-site, ensuring compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards; Liaise with key stakeholders to scope, plan and justify investments aligned to business priorities. Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (LOLER, PUWER, Pressure Systems, etc.); Act as the "Responsible Person" for inspection, documentation, and safety of site equipment; Maintain engineering records including risk assessments, inspections, and service reports; Champion safe systems of work, accident prevention, and near-miss reporting; Support internal and external audits relating to Engineering, EHS, and ISO standards. Oversee the operation, inspection, and servicing of all utilities (compressed air, water, power, HVAC); Maintain relationships and contracts with external service providers and suppliers; Ensure site infrastructure is fit for purpose and cost-effective. Partner with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment between maintenance activity and
business operations;

Participate in daily, weekly and monthly operations reviews to provide engineering input and actions; Support CI (Continuous Improvement), WCM, and sustainability initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required:

Degree/HNC in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or related field) or equivalent experience. Proven experience in a senior engineering or maintenance leadership role within a regulated manufacturing
environment (preferably healthcare, pharmaceutical, or food sectors).

Strong understanding of asset care, CMMS systems, TPM, and root cause analysis tools. Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (PUWER, LOLER, CE/UKCA marking, ISO
14001, etc.).

Experience managing capital projects, budgets, and external contractors. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive leadership style.
