experienced in preparing and implementing Environmental Management Plans for construction projects to work in our
Belfast office
as part of our Geosciences and Contaminated Land team.
This is primarily an office based role but some travel to site may be required to assist site works and the wider Geoscience team on other projects as and when required.
The Belfast Geosciences team provides consultancy and design services to both public and private sector organisations on a diverse range of projects including commercial and residential developments, infrastructure, utilities, transport, renewable energy, petrochemical and fuel retail companies. Our current workload includes major infrastructure projects, housing, warehousing & distribution developments and large scale remediation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and write project-specific Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) covering all relevant environmental aspects including air quality, biodiversity, water management, noise, dust, contaminated land and waste.
Review third party technical reports and plans to identify environmental risks and mitigation and monitoring measures required during construction.
Define roles, responsibilities, reporting procedures, and emergency response protocols within CEMPs.
Ensure CEMPs align with local and national environmental legislation and construction permits.
Update and revise CEMPs in response to changing site conditions, development proposals, or planning requirements.
Support the Geoscience Team on a variety of projects including undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments, assisting intrusive site investigations, and environmental monitoring, preparing health and safety documentation, managing subcontractors and scheduling soil and water samples for analytical testing as and when required.
Maintain and develop technical capability through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Person Specification:
A minimum of 2 years previous experience in construction projects and environmental consulting with direct experience writing CEMPs.
Practical experience in managing environmental site investigations or construction projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office packages.
QGIS, ArcGIS, CAD or similar data management/software knowledge is a significant advantage to assist with producing drawings.
Proven ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workloads.
Knowledge of contaminated land, waste and planning legislation in UK / Ireland.
Prepared to work as part of a team or as an individual.
Full driving licence.
