The Environmental Manager is responsible to the Programme Manager for all environmental matters throughout the programme lifecycle. This includes a wide range of aspects including involvement in design development and impact assessments, oversight of Contractor works on site, support to business case and governance processes, interface with stakeholders, and coordination with other departments & programmes of work.
This role will sit within the Programme HSQE team, working closely with the H&S and Quality Managers to support the delivery of this complex and sensitive programme.
Responsibilities of the Environmental Manager:
Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System.
Coordination and liaison with stakeholders.
Oversee environmental aspects of supply chain partner operations for both pre-construction and construction phase activities.
Support Project Managers and promote sustainability and environmental ethos throughout their processes and workstreams.
Continual monitoring of environmental compliance, including environmental incident reporting and monitoring across projects.
Ensure environmental processes meet the needs of stakeholders and fall in line with HSQE processes in place.
Development and execution of an environmental audit regime to demonstrate control of project environmental aspects.
Qualifications and experiences required for the Environmental Manager:
Essential
SC security clearance, or the ability to obtain in advance of employment.
Demonstrable environmental management experience (preferable in civils works).
Knowledge of the processes associated with EIA, CIRAM, Consents and Planning, ISO14001 / BREAM / DREAM / CEEQUAL.
Document and EMS control experience.
Good report and documentation writing experience.
Marine / terrestrial experience with understanding of Scottish environmental laws and regulation.
Flexible and proactive personality, keen to improve their experience and support the demands of the role.
Must bring professionalism and high standard of communication to the Programme.
Desirable:
Baseline undergraduate degree or equivalent.
Chartered membership of relevant body.
SEAT and/or POEMS training.
Experience in a Government environmental body.
Previous experience working on a nuclear licenced site or a similar high-risk environment.
