Estimator - Passive Fire Protection

Salary:

45,000 - 65,000 DOE

Are you an experienced Passive Fire Protection Estimator looking to take the next step in your career? We're representing a leading specialist contractor within the fire protection industry, known for delivering high-quality projects across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.

Due to sustained growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking a talented Estimator to join their team -- based at either their Newcastle or Peterborough office, with flexibility for hybrid working.

The Role

As an Estimator, you'll play a key role in securing work and supporting project delivery through accurate, timely, and commercially sound quotations. You will assess enquiries, interpret specifications, produce detailed cost plans, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure tenders are both competitive and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates for passive fire protection, fire-stopping, and fire door installation projects. Analyse drawings, specifications, and technical documents to produce accurate costings. Work closely with clients, consultants, and suppliers to clarify project requirements and gather pricing information. Prepare tender submissions, budgets, and bills of quantities. Evaluate risk, value engineering options, and alternative solutions where appropriate. Support project handover processes to ensure seamless transition from tender stage to delivery. Maintain organised records of tenders, quotations, and revisions. Assist in developing pricing strategies to maximise win rates and profitability.

Requirements

Proven experience as an Estimator within passive fire protection, fire-stopping, or fire door installation. Strong technical understanding of fire protection systems, materials, and compliance standards. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to interpret drawings, plans, and technical specifications. Strong communication and client-facing skills. Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously. Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit sites when required. NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or relevant trade background beneficial. Minimum 3 years' industry experience.
