Position Overview:

The Event First Responder is a crucial member of the event safety team, responsible for providing immediate and effective medical care and emergency response services during events. This role requires a highly responsible and trained individual with a focus on health, safety, and well-being of event attendees, staff, and participants. The successful candidate will be able to perform under pressure, maintain a calm demeanor, and carry out their duties efficiently in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Emergency Medical Care:



- Provide first aid, CPR, and emergency medical care to individuals in need during the event.

- Stabilise and manage patients until they can be handed over to professional medical services or until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive.

Incident Management:



- Quickly respond to medical emergencies, accidents, and incidents within the event premises.

- Report and document incidents accurately and promptly.

Preparedness & Equipment:



- Ensure all first aid kits, medical supplies, and equipment are stocked, functional, and ready for use.

- Set up and manage first aid stations at strategic locations within the event venue.

Coordination:



- Work closely with event organisers, security personnel, and other emergency responders to coordinate effective incident responses.

- Communicate effectively with event staff and emergency services to facilitate efficient incident management.

Training & Compliance:



- Stay informed about the latest first aid techniques, safety protocols, and medical advancements through regular training and certification renewal.

- Adhere to legal, health, and safety regulations at all times.

Qualifications:

Essential:



- Certified in FREC 3/4 with yearly BLS/ILS Certs.

- Proven experience in emergency medical care, preferably in an event setting.

- Strong knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations effectively.

Desirable:



- Experience working in large-scale public gatherings or events.

- Additional certifications in advanced life support, trauma care, or related fields.

- Certification in FREC 4 or Trust ECA/ECSW.

- Ensure patients are comfortably and securely transported to the nearest or most appropriate medical facility.

- Handover patient information effectively to receiving medical staff.

Equipment and Ambulance Maintenance:



- Ensure the ambulance and its equipment are cleaned, restocked, and maintained after each call.

- Conduct regular checks on medical equipment and supplies to ensure they are in working order.

Record Keeping:



- Accurately document patient information, treatment provided, and observations in accordance with EMS protocols.

- Complete incident reports and other necessary paperwork promptly and efficiently.

Training and Development:



- Participate in continuous training and professional development programs to maintain and upgrade skills and certifications.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest medical guidelines, procedures, and advancements.

Compliance and Safety:



- Adhere to all legal and health and safety regulations.

- Follow infection control protocols and practices, ensuring the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:

- Certification in IHCD Ambulance Aid, FREC 5 and AAP.

- Collaborate effectively with other emergency responders, including First Responders, ECAs, EMTs, police, and fire department personnel.

- Communicate clearly with patients, family members, and bystanders, providing reassurance and guidance as needed.

- Provide accurate and detailed patient handovers to receiving healthcare providers at medical facilities.

Equipment and Ambulance Maintenance:



- Ensure all medical equipment and supplies are maintained, clean, and ready for use.

- Perform regular checks on ambulance equipment and report any deficiencies or malfunctions.

Documentation and Reporting:



- Accurately document patient information, observations, treatment provided, and outcomes.

- Complete incident reports and other necessary paperwork in accordance with EMS protocols and regulations.

- Certification as a Paramedic by an accredited institution.

- Registered with the HCPC.

- Certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Desirable:



- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

- Certification in Emergency Response Driving.
