Faber and Faber is a leading independent literary publisher based in central London. We have a rich literary history dating back to the 1920s. Our list of authors includes Sally Rooney, Marina Hyde, Gary Younge, Max Porter, Akwaeke Emezi, Kazuo Ishiguro, Le\xc3\xafla Slimani, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Sebastian Barry, Rachel Cusk, and a backlist including the works of T. S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Sylvia Plath, William Golding and P. D. James among many others. Faber is also a supplier of sales and distribution services to independent publishers and has a market-leading creative writing school.

Faber is looking to recruit a highly organised Events Manager to work on Faber Members events and a select number of internal events for staff and third-party events partnerships.

Based in Faber\'s London home, The Bindery, the Faber Members programme offers an inspiring, varied and inclusive calendar of events for Faber\'s dedicated and global community of readers and arts lovers.

This new position will be responsible for the delivery and smooth running of every aspect of the in-person and online programme, as well as supporting regional and staff events and executing all associated administration. The ideal candidate will have experience of events management, excellent communication and copy-writing skills and the highest standard of author care. We are looking for someone who is passionate about literary events and interested in the cultural landscape; who will be able to work out any technical requirements and be able to stay calm under pressure and who has experience of WordPress. Digital marketing experience - including email segmentation and data analysis, design briefing and CRM skills - are preferable.

Reporting to the Head of Faber Members and working closely with the Communications Director, this new role will be essential to the delivery of the programme and will involve work with an extensive range of stakeholders. The role will manage the event on the night including room set up and guest list, and requires evening work and some weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • To oversee and execute the delivery of a programme of Faber Members events - up to 40 per year.
  • Responsibility for all events administration including room bookings, invitations and confirmation of events details, permissions, risk assessments room set up and guest lists.
  • To create events ideas and programme events alongside other members of the communications team.
  • To support on a programme of internal events for staff, authors and other partners.
  • To support on a range of events for external partners.
  • To liaise with all key stakeholders including authors, agents, editors ,publicists and building maintenance, around all events details and aspects of event space management.
  • To bring events in on budget.
This is a fixed-term contract of 18 months, based in our London office, and the role will either be considered on a full-time or four-day-a-week basis. The salary range is \xc2\xa330,000 to \xc2\xa335,000.
