Job Title:

Examinations Manager

Reports to:

Deputy Headmaster

Hours:



30 hours per week during the Autumn Term and Spring Term

37 hours per week during the Summer Term.

Plus 8 days during Autumn

This is a term time only position.

Please note: Flexible working pattern will be considered by negotiation.



Salary Scale:

NJC Points 22 - 25 (Actual salary range is 22,027 - 23,769 plus annual uplift)

Purpose of Job:

To oversee the smooth running of the internal and public examinations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Invigilation



Organise the recruitment of sufficient invigilators

Lead training sessions for new invigilators and facilitate termly invigilator meetings

Devise a schedule for invigilators in advance of each examination series

Ensure each examination hall meets JCQ regulations

Internal Examinations



Organise MidYIS tests in collaboration with the Head of Lower School

Facilitate LAMDA Examinations

Organise University Entrance Examinations

Liaising with Heads of Department to finalise examination requirements

Construct and manage the examination timetable for

A Level Mock Examinations

Mid A Level Mock Examinations

GCSE Mock Examinations

Mid GCSE Mock Examinations

School Examinations (Year 7-9)

Support Academic Departments in the administration of assessment-based competitions

External Examinations



Oversee Examination entries, withdrawals and amendments to Public Examinations

Publish the Examination Dates for GCSE and A Level Examinations

Construct and manage the overall timetable for the examination season

Establish the rooming requirements for the summer examination season

Ensure accurate entry of examination base data into SIMS

Verify examinations entries with Heads of Department

Produce and distribute timetables, Examination booklets and ID cards for students

Coordinate pre-exam tasks such as seating plans and invigilator rotas

Communicate JCQ regulations clearly to students, teachers, and parents.

Order Examination materials including answer and formulae booklets

Liaising with Heads of Department to organise Speaking Examinations

Liaising with Heads of Department to submit NEA marks and evidence

Liaising with Heads of Department to finalise practical examinations

Oversee the Moderation process with Heads of Department

Manage contingency planning for examination disruptions

Ensure compliance with JCQ inspection visits

Access Arrangements and Special Consideration



Liaising with the SENCO to ensure an accurate list of access arrangements is maintained

Administer access arrangements and monitor their implementation

Record access arrangements on SIMS

Liaising with Heads of School to ensure an accurate list of special consideration is maintained

Ensure relevant documentation required by JCQ is completed for each access arrangement/special consideration

Provide training to invigilators on implementing access arrangements correctly

Post Results



Manage the issue and distribution of GCE and GCSE Certificates

Communicate procedures for Post Results services and Results Days

Manage the dissemination of results on Results Day, including communication with those unable to attend in person

Publish grade boundaries to students and Heads of School/Heads of Department

Share candidate score breakdowns to Heads of Department

Set deadlines for Priority and Non-Priority Exam Scripts and Remarks

Coordinate and process appeals and reviews of marking, ensuring deadlines and documentation are met

Maintain an up-to-date record of examinations results for GCSE and A Level

Produce relevant statistics for External Publications (e.g. Sunday Times Parent Power)

In Year Admissions



Liaison with the Headmaster regarding admissions

Responding to parental queries regarding admissions

Organisation of in-year admissions including in-year testing

Maintain records of in-year testing outcomes and decisions

11+ Examination



Liaison with the local authority to oversee the running of the examination

Devise a schedule for invigilators

Ensure each examination hall follow the agreed regulations

Liaison with the local authority regarding access arrangements

Administration



To oversee the School Parents Evening booking system

Conduct an annual review and update of all policies and procedures to ensure compliance with JCQ

Support the Head of Centre in the prevention, identification, and reporting of malpractice or maladministration

Any other duties which may reasonably be required.

Experience of working with databases (ideally SIMS)

QUALIFICATIONS:



Essential: Minimum GCSE in English and Maths.

Desirable: A Level or other professional qualifications
