Bringing together a route of over 500 miles of stunning scenery, the North Coast 500 follows the main roads along the coastal edges of the North Highlands, taking in the regions of Wester Ross, Sutherland, Caithness, Easter Ross, the Black Isle and Inverness-Shire.
The North Highlands of Scotland has become one of the most iconic destinations in the UK partly due to the NC500. It has significant global reach and over 300,000 followers on Social Media.
The route was created to attract visitors north of Inverness and to strengthen the local economy with increased visitor footfall, extending the tourist season and supporting employment.
North Coast 500 Limited's role has been and will continue to be that of marketing this world renowned route which is now in its 11th year.
The Executive Chair - North Coast 500 Limited
After a period of growth and consolidation the company's ambition is to now widen its purpose to drive it forward for the next 10 years and beyond. The aim is to improve the financial performance and thereby distribute resources to generate inreased benefits for the communities and businesses along the route.
A new Executive Chair is being sought to lead this initiative.
The Executive Chair will lead the small, professional and committed team to ensure that the company achieves its goal of improving sustainable and responsible tourism in the North Highlands. The Chair will lead the board and provide the link between the operational team and the directors.
The Chair will need to be out and about in the region and along the route meeting with stakeholders, public sector organisations, business members and community groups to ensure that NC500 and the tourism its brings works for everyone.
This "hands on" approach will provide direct knowledge and feedback regarding the well known problems along the route and assist in putting in place the steps necessary to address those issues as far as NC500 is able. Problem solving skills will be required.
Regular contact with media outlets is also a key feature.
Another important aspect of the role is to look after the company's relationships with its existing corporate sponsors and partners and drive forward the 3 Year Plan to secure new ones, aligned to the wider purpose.
The Chair will set the tone for the integrity and professionalism of the company - ensuring effective governance, strong standards and trusted relationships with stakeholders and shareholders.
You will already be an experienced NED or Chair and be ready to take the next step as an Executive. You will bring strategic clarity and calm authority at Board level and a steady hand with a collaborative style. You will have experience in tourism. Familiarity and a detailed knowledge of the North Highlands is a distinct advantage.
