The University of Worcester was awarded a contract to deliver fitness assessments Herefordshire and Worcester Fire Service and Shropshire and Wrekin Fire and Rescue Services. The University of Worcester has been working with and in partnership with both Fire services since 2012 supporting the health and fitness levels of operational staff on the front line.
This post will be to deliver annual 'fit-to-work' assessments for all operational fire fighters working in Herefordshire and Worcestershire but also offering resilience to Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Service. The primary role will be to conduct the assessments while maintaining an effective liaison with fire service staff, appropriate departments within the University and interact effectively with all levels of staff, students, key partners, other external organisations and members of the public. The post holder will primarily cover Herefordshire and Worcester Fire Service, with some work across the Shropshire and Wrekin Fire and Rescue Services and to represent the University of Worcester to various personnel at all levels in the Fire Services. The team of Exercise Physiologists work under the supervision of a Clinical Lead in the School of Sport and Exercise Science.
This post requires a highly confident, knowledgeable and personable individual capable of working independently and autonomously. The job requires flexibility to work day time, evening and weekend shifts (when required). The nature of the post requires a driving license as the post holder will be required to drive to fire stations in Herefordshire and Worcestershire and occasionally Shropshire to conduct the assessments. Some hours may be performed at the University's St Johns campus or Riverside campus.
