Employment Type: Full-Time (Private House Estate & Rental Properties)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Gardener to manage and maintain the grounds of a private estate and its associated rental properties in Nottingham. The successful candidate will take pride in keeping outdoor spaces healthy, beautiful, and functional, demonstrating expertise in all aspects of garden management. This is a hands-on role working across various gardens and landscapes on the estate.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain lawns, flower beds, borders, trees, and hedges to the highest standards.
Plan, plant, and care for seasonal displays, shrubs, perennials, and vegetable beds.
Perform regular groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, pruning, weeding, mulching, watering, and pest/disease control.
Design and implement new planting schemes in line with the owners' preferences and estate character.
Manage greenhouse operations, including propagation, potting, and plant health monitoring.
Monitor and maintain garden machinery, tools, and irrigation systems.
Ensure gardens and outdoor areas for rental properties are tidy, attractive, and welcoming for tenants.
Supervise or liaise with contractors as needed for tree surgery, hard landscaping, or specialist maintenance.
Keep records of planting schedules, treatments, and estate inventories.
Support seasonal projects and out-of-hours emergency response, including winter weather management.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven gardening experience, ideally on private estates or similar large grounds.
Strong horticultural knowledge--plant identification, soil management, pest/disease control, and grounds management.
Skilled in the use of a wide range of garden tools and machinery.
Experience designing and implementing planting plans.
Genuine passion for horticulture and sustainable gardening practices.
Ability to work independently, with excellent time management and attention to detail.
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Formal horticultural qualifications (e.g., RHS, City & Guilds, NVQ) are advantageous.
Knowledge of local flora and environmental considerations specific to Nottinghamshire.
Basic DIY and estate maintenance skills.
Remuneration
