Vacancies have arisen within The Extra Support Service for Extra Support Scheme Workers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the service to recruit to the post of Extra Support Scheme worker on a casual basis.

There is an expectation for the successful candidate to provide a responsive social care service to vulnerable individuals with/without learning disabilities, forensic needs and mental health needs who may communicate by way of exhibiting behaviours that can be considered as challenging and/or aggressive.

There is a requirement for flexibility in the role to ensure the needs of the service users who are supported are fully met ensuring a person centred approach.

Weekend shifts are likely to be offered, to ensure the individuals within the service receive the support they require.

The successful applicants will join an established service providing a variety of support including some aspects of personal care, safe administration of medication, assistance with the making of food and drinks, domestic duties where appropriate and all aspects of record keeping in line with service guidelines, policies and procedures.

The successful applicants will be required to work across the service with various individuals. Team work and communication with colleagues is important and most of the shifts are 'lone working' often in some difficult challenging environments and will be expected to comply with all Health and Safety regulations.

Sleep in shifts are optional but are often required to suit the needs of the service users we support.

Previous experience of working in a care and support setting is essential with a good knowledge of adults with a learning disability who demonstrate challenging behaviour.
