CFM is a contract furniture manufacturer employing 90 people across three sites in Pontefract and Castleford. We specialise in creating high-quality furniture for the care home sector, helping our clients design exceptional interiors.

With two manufacturing sites in Pontefract and a warehouse in Castleford, we design and produce an extensive range of cabinet and upholstered furniture. Proudly manufacturing in the UK, our passion for design drives us to embrace new ideas and challenges.

Due to our continued growth, we require a Fabric Cutter to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

Working Hours:

Monday - Thursday 7am - 4.30pm

Friday 7am - 11.00am

Breaks:

Two 15-minute breaks (unpaid)

One 30-minute break (paid)

Responsibilities:

Prepare and cut all fabrics and patterns for the sewing machinists. Create, amend and maintain templates and patterns as required. Carry out individual quality checks to ensure all cut components meet company standards. Operate and maintain electric straight knife cutting equipment safely and accurately. Handle and move fabric rolls (typically up to 25m) safely as part of daily duties. Work collaboratively with colleagues across upholstery, sewing and production departments. Complete work sheets and production documentation accurately. Optimise fabric usage to minimise waste and maintain cost efficiency. Maintain excellent housekeeping, ensuring a clean, safe and organised working environment. Monitor fabric quality before cutting, reporting flaws or inconsistencies. Perform routine checks on cutting tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

Experience using an electric straight knife fabric cutter (essential). Experience in a sewing room or upholstery production environment. Ability to manage the full process from template creation and marking through to final cutting. Strong attention to detail. Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling, including lifting and carrying fabric rolls. Reliable, punctual and professional.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry and manoeuvre fabric rolls as part of daily tasks. Comfortable standing for extended periods. Good hand?eye coordination and dexterity for precise cutting work.
