Company Overview

Our client is a well-established engineering company specialising in machinery manufacturing, water jet cutting, fabrication, installation, and maintenance. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Fabricator Welder to join their skilled workshop team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and technically capable individual to work on a variety of bespoke engineering projects in a modern, well-equipped workshop environment.



Purpose of the Role

The Fabricator Welder will be responsible for the accurate fabrication and welding of components to customer and company specifications. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, operating fabrication machinery, and ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.



Key Responsibilities

Welder - Role Specific Duties

Read and interpret weld details and specifications to minimise mistakes and ensure efficient use of equipment, time, and materials.

Carry out accurate MIG and TIG welding on a variety of materials in line with customer weld specifications and company welding procedures.

Perform general welding and engineering duties to support wider business operations.

Conduct pre-planned and preventative maintenance on equipment (within capability), recording and reporting any issues to management.

Use all tools, equipment, and measuring devices safely and effectively.

Ensure equipment and tools are operating within required tolerances and report any defects promptly.

Correctly use PPE in accordance with company and legislative safety requirements.

Assist with the receipt, unloading, storing, and loading/despatch of goods in line with company procedures.



Fabricator - Role Specific Duties

Read, interpret, and understand technical drawings and machine capabilities to minimise mistakes and maximise production efficiency.

Accurately manufacture jigs and fixtures to support efficient manufacturing and repeatability.

Operate fabrication machines including (but not limited to) Press Brake, Guillotine, Bandsaw, Drill Press, and general fabrication tools.

Carry out pre-planned and preventative maintenance on fabrication machinery, recording and reporting issues as required.

Support the design and machining departments, ensuring smooth workflow and effective manufacturing practices.

Break down drawings to create cutting lists and developments to ensure efficient fabrication and material utilisation.



Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience as a Fabricator Welder within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Competent in MIG and TIG welding across various materials (e.g. mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium). Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and fabrication techniques. Experience operating fabrication machinery (Press Brake, Guillotine, Saws, Drills, etc.). Good knowledge of workshop health and safety practices and correct PPE usage. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining attention to detail and quality standards. Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications (Preferred)

NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Fabrication & Welding (or equivalent). Formal Welding Certification in MIG/TIG (advantageous but not essential). Forklift or lifting equipment certification (beneficial).
