We are now seeking a
reliable and skilled Facilities / Handyman / Maintenance Operative
to ensure that our home remains safe, compliant and well-presented for residents, visitors and staff.
Role Overview
As a Facilities / Maintenance Operative, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, well-functioning environment in line with
health & safety standards
,
care home regulations
, and
best practice in maintenance within care settings
throughout Wales.
This role includes
general repairs, routine maintenance, planned checks, and supporting safety compliance
across the building and grounds.
Key Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
Maintenance & Repairs
Carry out general repairs including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general handyman tasks.
Ensure equipment, fixtures and fittings remain in good working order.
Maintain external areas such as paths, gardens, fences and lighting.
Compliance & Safety
Conduct regular statutory checks (e.g., fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, water temperature checks) under guidance from home management.
Ensure maintenance activities meet
Health & Safety requirements
,
infection prevention standards
, and internal policies.
Report hazards promptly and take action to help maintain a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.
Support to the Home
Assist with moving furniture, minor room refurbishments and general upkeep.
Work collaboratively with managers, care staff and contractors.
Maintain accurate records of checks, repairs and maintenance tasks.
Uphold and promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of all residents.
Experience & Skills
Experience in a maintenance or facilities role is preferred but not essential if you have strong practical skills.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Good all-round practical maintenance capability.
A proactive, can-do approach with the ability to prioritise tasks.
Awareness of health & safety in a care or similar environment (training provided if needed).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills and a respectful manner around vulnerable adults.
Experience in
care homes

regulated environments
is advantageous but not mandatory.
