About the role:
The primary purpose of this role is to responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of all facilities and infrastructure across KNDS UK sites. This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory standards while supporting continuous and efficient production processes. The Facilities Manager is committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive environment for all employees. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining a comprehensive three-year rolling facilities plan, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, leading a team of support staff, managing vendor partnerships, and coordinating capital projects to enhance facility performance and minimize operational downtime.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive 3-year rolling facilities plan aligned with business objectives and operational requirements.
Lead capital planning initiatives, including budgeting, project justification, and overseeing the execution of facility upgrades and expansions.
Manage all aspects of vendor relationships, including procurement, contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and compliance.
Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of manufacturing facilities to ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to minimize downtime and support uninterrupted manufacturing processes.
Ensure all facilities meet stringent defence industry security and safety regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
Supervise, train, and develop a team of facilities and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Monitor and control facility operating costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
Implement preventive maintenance programs and emergency response plans to maintain facility reliability and resilience.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable defence sector requirements.
Prepare and present regular reports on facilities status, capital projects, and budget performance to senior management.
Monitor facility performance and implement preventative maintenance programs
Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Plan and coordinate facility upgrades, renovations, and capital improvement projects critical to supporting advanced manufacturing processes.
Uphold a 'world class' vision for the site and its facilities
Development of existing CMMS system to drive improving trends in Facilities
Foster a culture of continual improvement within the Facilities Team, continually challenging departmental paradigms, where necessary lead practical problem solving and drive a 'prevent reoccurrence' ethos.
Preparation of RFQ's Contract Review and Risk Management
What we're looking for:
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
HND / HNC in relevant discipline (or equivalent)
Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, LOTO, PUWER, etc
Occupational Health and Safety Certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA)
History of delivery Capital Expenditure programmes
Practical knowledge of working with and developing Computerised Maintenance Management systems (CMMS)
Practical knowledge of what constitutes safe contractor control
