1. Purpose of the Role



Cardiff City House of Sport operates high-quality indoor multi-sport training facilities in Cardiff. With recent and ongoing expansion, we are recruiting a

Facility Assistant

to join our team at the Eastern Community Campus (ECC).

As a Facility Assistant, you will help supervise visitors using the facilities, support the smooth running of sports activities, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The role requires strong communication skills, customer service experience, an understanding of health and safety, and the physical ability to handle equipment-based tasks.

2. Key Duties



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Setting up, dismantling, and maintaining sports equipment. Supervising sports activities and calmly intervening when necessary (e.g. in emergencies or cases of inappropriate behaviour). Ensuring all areas of the facility remain clean, safe, and well-maintained through regular checks and light maintenance. Ensuring school policies are followed by facility users. Greeting visitors and handling customer queries in a professional manner. Assisting with the organisation of larger-scale sporting events. Working as part of a cohesive team, supporting colleagues where needed. Reporting equipment or facility issues promptly to Duty Managers. Administering first aid when required and recording incidents in the accident book.

3. Candidate Profile



The ideal Facility Assistant will:

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Work effectively both independently and as part of a small team. Show a keen interest in sport and fitness activities. Demonstrate awareness of health and safety responsibilities. Be flexible and adaptable with working hours. Be physically fit and willing to carry out routine manual tasks. Hold a valid First Aid qualification (or be willing to obtain one).
