Edge Lighting are recruiting for a factory manager to oversee all factory activities and personnel.
The ideal candidate is a natural leader with exceptional communication skills, well organised and enjoys working with others to achieve their goals.
Experience required in management / leadership role, able to motivate and manage a team. Well organised and a strong communicator to successfully guide team.
Warehousing, logistics or manufacturing experience preferred, though not essential. Forklift and driving licenses preferred, though not essential.
Job role:
Responsible for all factory operations, including goods in/out, manufacturing, quality control & testing. Manage factory staff holiday, sickness, discipline and welfare in accordance with company procedure, reporting to the Operations Manager.
Weekly projects meetings - Attend weekly meetings and deputise in the absence of the Operations Manager. Organise delivery and manufacturing schedules to meet project deadlines, queuing works orders to individuals for continuous workflow. Ensure scheduling of deliveries and manufacturing meets priorities and objectives as set out by the Operations Manager.
Foster a team culture who are willing to work paid overtime during busy periods to ensure we remain lean in our workforce, whilst ensuring deliveries are always met. This limits our need for agency staff and unnecessary hiring to fulfil short-term project requirements.
Advise the Operations Manager of capacity concerns, training courses for your team, equipment and other suggestions to help you and your team meet goals.
Work closely with the Production Supervisor to train new staff, gain insights on works order timeframes and team member skillsets to aid production planning. Delegate to them to resolve product issues swiftly for minimal workflow disruption.
Work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to improve inventory management, logistics and quality control. Ensuring processes are carried out and logged correctly will reduce issues from occurring and identify them early to prevent from snowballing.
Uphold company standards, an organised factory and maintained vehicle fleet are key to setting company standards, demonstrating expectation and working inline with H&S policy. Enforce use of correct PPE for tasks, safe and correct use of equipment, flagging concerns or improvements to your line manager.
Terms and Conditions:
This is a full-time position based at our factory in Mitcham, Surrey.
Normal working hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm, and there will be opportunity for paid overtime during busy periods.
Holiday is 20 days per year, plus bank and national holidays. We also operate a seasonal shutdown period between Christmas and New Year.
We do not believe in a strict dress code, however please dress appropriately for a factory working environment. You will be provided with branded merchandise for site visits and optional daily use.
