Ackerman are a sub-contract precision sheet metal fabricator. Our components and fabrications are used across the UK, throughout Europe and beyond. Customers tend to be OEMs in fields such as electronics, security, transport, hydraulics, nuclear, plastics as well as medical and construction.

The Job Role:



We have an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced, well-equipped and clean engineering environment. You will be performing various job roles, including but not limited to use of the Lathe, Mill, Pillar Drill and Manual Punch. This Is a skilled roll and we are looking for someone with comprehensive machining experience. This position is ideally suited to a person who prefers a variation in their working day.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:



Produce parts from information contained in the job cards. Read and understand a technical drawing and understand the use of tool cutting points.

Machine operations using the Lathe, Mill, Pillar Drill and Manual Punch.

Select and set the correct tools for the job.

Check physical seal dimensions with various mechanical and optical measuring equipment and ensure that they are within the tolerance specified on the drawing.

Carry out batch inspection parts at regular intervals as defined in the SOP.

Batch inspect parts for defects and dispose of any parts that do not meet parameters.

Run first offs and check dimensions of the first off to drawing and make any adjustments as required.

Finishing operations.

Packing/packaging operations.

To ensure that work schedules are followed, and to immediately report issues why this may not be possible.

To ensure that all machine and personal safety procedures are followed at all times.

To adhere to all factory health & safety issues together with good housekeeping within your own appointed working area.

When requested, to make yourself available for overtime when business demands necessitate extra hours to be worked to fulfil customer delivery/schedule dates.

Person knowledge, skills, and personal qualities required

.

Proven working experience within mechanical engineering, and has the ability to understand detailed sheet metal drawings.

Willing and able to work additional hours (overtime) when required.

Good attention to detail and accuracy.

A can-do approach to problem solving.

Good practical ability

Good attitude towards your own work ethic, and reliable and punctual in your work attendance.

Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Good communication skills.
