Job Description

Salmo Salar Ltd is a leading producer of premium smoked salmon, renowned for our commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Factory/Production Manager to join our team and to oversee our smoked salmon production facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for maintaining the highest quality standards.



As the Factory/Production Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of our smoked salmon production operations. This includes ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, managing staff, and optimising productivity. Your leadership will be crucial in driving continuous improvement and ensuring that our products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. You will also maintain a flexible approach to the Factory/Production Manager's role and provide suitable cover as and when required for other remits.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management:



Oversee the daily operations of the smoked salmon production facility. Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining product quality and safety standards. Implement and monitor efficiency and performance metrics. Hands-on approach.

Quality Assurance:



Maintain rigorous quality control protocols to ensure all products meet or exceed industry standards. Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any issues and implement corrective actions.

Team Leadership:



Lead, train, and develop a team of production staff, supervisors, and support personnel. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Process Improvement:



Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs. Utilise Lean Manufacturing principles and other methodologies to drive operational excellence.

Cost Management:



Monitor and control production costs Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Reporting:



Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, and operational issues to senior management.

Compliance and Safety:



Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Implement and enforce strict hygiene and sanitation protocols. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role within the food production industry, preferably in seafood processing. Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and other food safety standards. Proven leadership and team-building skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
