Family Assistant
Job Description
A warm and welcoming family living on a large private estate in East Lothian, seeking a caring and adaptable Family Assistant to support the household. We have two children aged 15 and 10, both active and independent, but who require consistent and supportive care, particularly around school routines, homework, and daily activities. We also have pets, so a genuine love for animals is essential.
This is a part-time role averaging 20- 25 hours per week, with the need for flexibility to accommodate changing schedules. Additional hours, including occasional overnight stays, may be required during periods of family travel or busy times.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare Support
Provide warm, attentive, and reliable care for two children (ages 15 & 10) Assist with school pick-ups and drop-offs (car provided). Support with homework, school projects, and extracurricular activities Prepare and cook healthy, nutritious meals for the children Offer general supervision and guidance, ensuring a positive and safe environment
Household & Family Support
Occasional pet care (feeding, walking, supervising) Light household assistance related to childcare (tidying communal areas, organising school items) Assist with routines and planning around busy family schedules Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities during parental travel, including overnight care
Requirements
Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one Previous experience in childcare or family support roles A genuine love for animals and comfort around pets Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond confidently to changing schedules Warm, patient, and proactive approach Reliable, trustworthy, and organised Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: 15.00-18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week
