Key Responsibilities in Family Law Support

Supporting solicitors on a wide caseload of family law matters, including divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements, domestic abuse, and cohabitation disputes. Drafting, preparing, and reviewing legal documentation such as petitions, witness statements, consent orders, financial disclosure forms, and court bundles to a high standard. Managing case files, ensuring all relevant documents, correspondence, and attendance notes are properly maintained and up to date on the case management system. Liaising professionally with clients, counsel, courts, experts, and other relevant parties throughout all stages of a matter to support a timely and satisfactory resolution. Undertaking legal research, preparing chronologies, and assisting with the preparation of court papers and hearing bundles. Ensuring compliance with the SRA, GDPR, and other regulatory standards at every stage of the case. Demonstrating a high level of client care when supporting individuals through sensitive and often challenging circumstances.

Essential Skills & Experience for a Family Law Paralegal Role



Minimum of 12 months' experience supporting family law matters within a law firm or related legal environment. A solid understanding of family law processes, the Family Procedure Rules, and relevant forms and protocols. Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines. Clear and professional communication skills--written and verbal--with an ability to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external parties. Demonstrable attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving within a fast-paced team environment. Proficiency in using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and in all interactions with clients.
