We are looking for a motivated Farm Veterinary Technician to join our team, with a primary focus supporting the veterinary team including laboratory diagnostics and sample processing, alongside occasional on-farm support. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to support disease prevention, herd health monitoring, and veterinary investigations--while still staying connected to the farm environment.

Main Purpose of the Role:



To assist in maintaining a clean and functional clinical environment, in accordance with the standards and ethics of the veterinary profession at all Torch locations. In addition to providing technical support, there is a requirement to provide the highest level of customer care.

To provide technical support for clients and veterinary surgeons of Torch Farm and Equine Ltd with services such as calf health monitoring, locomotion scoring, parlour and udder health monitoring etc.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:



At Torch site:



Cleaning, preparation and maintenance of surgical kits and equipment Keeping clinical areas clean, tidy and maintaining a high standard of biosecurity Maintain practice Health and Safety standards Keep accurate records of all clinical work Undertake laboratory testing - managing samples for internal/external labs, worm egg counts, blood profiles etc. Ensure all work carried out, along with medicines and expense items is accurately charged to the client Ensure economical and efficient use of practice time and services avoiding waste Support the clinical team in production of health reports using appropriate software including practice management software (Robovet), Microsoft Office, Interherd, Interherd Plus, beef and sheep health planning software etc Process day to day client and supplier queries efficiently with minimal assistance/supervision Build long standing relationships with both existing and new clients through positive experiences, your knowledge of Torch Farm and Equine and your ability to promote our business

On Farm:



Providing Vet Tech Services for our clients Supporting vets on farm with clinical workload Build long standing relationships with both existing and new clients through positive experiences, your knowledge of Torch Farm and Equine and your ability to promote our business

Team support:



Support with events set up and close down including collecting and returning display set up to our storage units Attendance at events and training courses, farmer meetings and shows as required Support with internal courier van cover (as required) Support dedicated Reception and Admin teams when appropriate
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the practice.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:



Minimum 12 months practical farm experience handling cattle and sheep Previous experience in a laboratory or veterinary setting Qualified R-SQP, AMTRA training or equivalent (desirable) Higher level Animal Management or Agricultural Qualification (NVQ level 3 minimum) Full clean UK driving license including trailer licence (our insurance cover is based on being over 21 and with 2 years driving experience) Good IT skills Full clean UK driving license including trailer licence Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are required. Attention to detail and organisational skills are essential for maintaining high standards of work

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21-14.23 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
