Position Overview:
We are seeking a
highly creative and experienced Fashion Designer
to join our growing team. As a Fashion Designer at CY London Fashion Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in designing seasonal collections that reflect current trends while maintaining the brand's distinctive aesthetic. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the UK high-street fashion market, strong technical skills, and a passion for translating concepts into commercially successful garments.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end design process, from initial mood boards and trend research to final product development and range planning. Working closely with the buying and merchandising teams, you will ensure our collections meet the expectations of our fashion-conscious customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth
trend forecasting and market research
to inform seasonal direction, staying ahead of industry trends, colour palettes, fabrics, prints, and silhouettes.
Develop
concept boards, design sketches, and technical drawings
using CAD and hand-drawing techniques.
Design and develop full
seasonal collections
for women's apparel and accessories in line with CY London's brand identity.
Source and select appropriate
fabrics, trims, and materials
, considering quality, cost, and availability.
Create and manage
tech packs
and ensure accurate communication with suppliers and manufacturers.
Collaborate with buyers, merchandisers, and production teams to ensure designs are
commercially viable and production-ready
.
Review samples and attend fit sessions, making adjustments as needed to ensure perfect fit, style, and functionality.
Work within
critical path timelines
, ensuring all key deadlines are met for each stage of the design and development process.
Maintain detailed documentation of the design process, range plans, sample trackers, and supplier communications.
Attend trade shows, fabric fairs, and other industry events to gather inspiration and source new materials.
Take part in marketing and visual merchandising planning, supporting photoshoots, lookbooks, and digital content creation where necessary.
Stay informed about competitors, customer feedback, and sales performance to continuously refine design strategies.
Requirements:
Degree or diploma in
Fashion Design
, Textile Design, or a related discipline.
Minimum of
3-5 years' experience
in a similar fashion design role, preferably in women's high-street fashion.
Proficient in
Adobe Creative Suite
(Illustrator, Photoshop), as well as Microsoft Office and relevant CAD software.
Strong understanding of
garment construction, pattern cutting, and fabric properties
.
Excellent
drawing and design skills
, with an eye for detail and a passion for innovation.
Strong communication and presentation abilities; comfortable pitching concepts to internal teams.
A proactive, organised, and adaptable team player able to
manage multiple projects
simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of
commercial fashion
and the ability to design with the end customer in mind.
