Fass Faculty Employability Coordinator (placement Year)

Job Description


The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is looking to hire a Placements Employability Coordinator to be responsible for administrative duties and systems to support employability activities. This will include maintaining administrative systems and documentation relating to the placement year, triaging student queries in the team\'s shared inboxes, and ensuring students receive the tailored weekly FASS Placements Newsletter from September onwards.

Students in FASS study degrees which include: History, Law, Politics, Philosophy, English Literature and Creative Writing, Linguistics, Sociology, Criminology, Theatre, Design and Fine Art.

We are looking for a commitment of 14.5 hours per week starting in September until November. This role could be carried out in-person or via a hybrid style of working.

Location: Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus

Hours per week: 14.5



Main Duties:

  • To maintain administrative systems and documentation relating to the placement year.
  • To be a first point of contact for students and ensure effective communication with students, academic staff, departmental professional services colleagues.
  • To research opportunities and create a tailored FASS Placements weekly Newsletter.
Person Specification

Essential:
  • Customer service experience, including dealing with a range of customer queries / concerns in a professional manner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyse and present information in an accurate and appropriate format, for example emails and newsletters
  • Proven IT competency, particularly MS Teams, OneDrive, and Microsoft Office 365 software
  • Experience of prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines without close supervision
Desirable:
  • Experience of effectively supporting students with employability and/or placements queries, demonstrating the ability to triage concerns and signpost to relevant resources and materials.
