Job Description

Morton & Jones Ltd in Wrexham is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fence Erector to join our utilities contract team.

The ideal candidate will be reliable and hard working. Must be able to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various fencing materials and installation techniques. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, ensuring the highest quality of workmanship while adhering to safety standards.

This role involves erecting all types of fencing including security fencing, hoarding, feather edge, metal railings, mesh fencing and timber post, concrete post, panel fencing and gravel boards on sites ranging from highways, schools, industrial units and for the utility sector.

Installing gates

Measure and mark locations for fence posts and panels accurately

Ensure all fence installations are plumb, level, securely anchored, and meet specified design requirements.

Perform basic masonry work as needed for fence installation or decorative elements. Conduct repairs on existing fences. Conduct painting or staining of wooden fences as required. Prepare and clear worksites efficiently and safely. Operate tools and equipment, including peckers, concrete saws, nail guns and hand tools. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations. Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines. Work across varied outdoor environments and weather conditions. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

Proven experience in fence erection or similar construction roles is preferred. Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools relevant to the trade. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent physical fitness, capable of lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions. A valid driving licence is preferred with no more than 3 points. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
This position requires a proactive approach to work, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. We expect excellent physical fitness and have a zero tolerance regarding drugs and alcohol - with regular testing taking place. Employees must also pass a DBS check.
