We require personnel who are capable of working in a team based environment in the service, maintenance & installation of industrial shredders.

Job Purpose



As an Assembly Fitter / Field Service Engineer, you will be a vital member of the Ulster Shredders team, supporting both our in-house manufacturing operations and our expanding after-sales service division.

The role combines mechanical assembly work at our Castledawson facility with service, commissioning, and installation duties at customer sites across the UK, Ireland, and international locations. You will play a key part in ensuring our machinery is built, delivered, and maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities



Assemble and fit industrial shredding machinery in line with engineering drawings and build specifications Support machine preparation and testing prior to dispatch Carry out on-site installation, commissioning, and operator training Diagnose mechanical faults and perform routine maintenance at customer facilities Provide technical support and feedback to the After Sales Manager and wider engineering team Complete service reports and job documentation accurately and on time Ensure all tools, parts, and equipment are maintained in good working order Uphold Ulster Shredders' lean manufacturing and quality standards in all activities

Qualifications & Experience



Minimum of

3 years' experience

in a mechanical assembly or field service engineering role Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and components Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation Experience in industrial equipment or heavy machinery assembly is highly desirable Basic electrical or hydraulic experience would be advantageous

Full clean driving licence

is essential Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications or time-served apprenticeship preferred

Field Work & Travel



A significant element of this position will be field-based. You will be provided with a fully equipped company van and the necessary tools to perform your duties effectively.

As a representative of Ulster Shredders, you must demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and a customer-focused approach at all times. Flexibility for travel and occasional overnight stays will be required in order to meet business and customer needs.

Working Hours



Standard Hours:

38 hours per week, plus 1.5 time for overtime after 38 hours & overnight fee when staying away.

Schedule: Monday to Thursday:

7:30 am - 5:30 pm

Flexibility:

Additional hours may be required on occasion to fulfil the responsibilities of the role. Any extra time worked will be compensated in accordance with contractual overtime or time-in-lieu arrangements.
