Field Service Engineer

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Working at one site has its advantages. You get to know the laboratory teams, equipment, know how long it will take you to get home at the end of the day...

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be joining a new team, in an 'in-house' capacity, and will focus your efforts in one place, The Hub, in Blackfriars, so no more motoring around a wide geographical location.

You'll develop key relationships across the various laboratories under your remit, help develop this new in-house team by implementing regular maintenance schedules while dealing with day-to-day incidents.

You'll grow an understanding of the various platforms, and be able to identify any underlining reasons behind repeat 'call-outs', and have the ability to influence a longer-term approach to remedies to reduce repeat incidents.

Being in-house you'll also be part of the planning phase of implementing any new technologies into laboratories, drawing down on your existing knowledge and expanding it when bringing on new suppliers.

Your focus as you join this new team will be to review current practices and any established maintenance schedules, develop a key understanding of the platforms in place and the laboratories under your remit.

Initially you'll be focused on Blood Sciences, with the expectation of expanding your remit more widely as 2026 progresses.

This will involve installation, configuration and validation of instruments and analysers, putting in place regular maintenance schedules, troubleshooting and working with manufacturers to ensure SLAs are being adhered to. You'll be acting as a bridge between them, the laboratories and your wider Technical Services team.

The position requires flexibility in working hours to support laboratory operational needs. While standard working hours apply, there may be occasional requirements for interventions during nights or weekends to ensure continuity of critical processes. We value work-life balance and appropriate recovery time, in line with company policies

The Hub is an eight-storey building, and we are working across 10 floors including the ground and lower ground floors. Synnovis' corporate function operates from the hub on the 8th floor, above the laboratories underneath. This is a total net internal area of almost 10,000m squared across the 10 floors.

Based in Blackfriars, it's less than a 5 minute walk from Southwark Tube or Blackfriars station and nestled closely to a vast array of entertainment and fabulous places to dine, relax and meet people.

Your Development and Learning

You will have a suite of learning opportunities available through The ACCE development programme which is used across Synnovis to enable you to reach your potential, learn new skills and achieve your goals.

This is managed between you and your line manager in line with your own personal and professional development ambitions.
