If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for two talented, highly motivated, enthusiastic, dependable and hardworking individuals to support our existing team of non-destructive testing inspection engineers to assist with some large-scale project work in the UK and overseas (Netherlands and Denmark) during 2026 and possibly beyond.

The position is open to anyone who is interested in obtaining essential 'hands-on' experience, training and industry standard qualifications within the wind energy sector and hoping to get their first chance and 'foot in the door' in the renewable wind energy sector.

You will be given the very best support and accompany our skilled technicians who will provide on-the-job training in the field of non-destructive testing including: endoscopy, vibration and acoustic analysis, thermography, fault finding, root cause analysis and technical inspection procedures.

All external and mandatory GWO wind turbine basic safety training, medical and fitness to work assessments and additional courses will be fully funded by the company. Please note, the position is initially for a 'fixed term' of employment of 6 months.

THE ROLE:



The role is for a Wind Turbine Field Support Technician, preferably with some previous engineering experience (ex-armed forces, electro-mechanical, maintenance repair in industry etc) or relatable industrial backgrounds including: maintenance, engineering, fault finding or testing (including a laboratory setting).

Primarily, you will be assisting our existing technicians performing endoscopic inspections on wind turbine bearings, gears, generators (drivetrains) collecting data using industrial-grade borescopes under close personal supervision in addition to obtaining acoustic, vibration and thermographic data. You will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining all tooling and equipment taken to and from site (offshore and onshore).

All work will be conducted 'on-site' and you will be expected to work away from home up to a period of 14 consecutive days when working overseas (plus an additional 2x days travelling) or 5 days when working at an onshore location.

The successful applicant will have to attend and successfully pass a job-specific 'fitness-to-work' medical assessment before being offered a contract of employment.

Although the role is initially for a fixed term of employment, the term may be extended or an a full time position within the company may be offered.

The candidate must also reside within 30 minutes' commutable distance to our office located in Greenfield, Holywell, Flintshire. CH8 7GR

For the duration of your training, you will gain practical experience, develop theoretical knowledge, whilst obtaining formal qualifications, which are recognised and fully transferrable within the wind industry. You will perform multiple aspects of testing and inspecting to the highest quality. Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to accurately follow workflow process instructions. You will have a keen sense of achievement and take pride in the work you undertake and produce. The ability to work efficiently within a team is essential.

CONDITIONS:



It is important to note that this job offer is subject to the candidate residing no greater than 30 minutes' commutable distance to our North Wales office located in Holywell, Flintshire. Any candidates who apply for this position not meeting this condition will be automatically rejected for the role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Working at height in excess of 100m for extended periods of time Working onshore in remote areas and away from home for up to 5 days a week Working offshore in open seas up to a period of 2 weeks (+2 days travel) for overseas work or staying onboard a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) Travel offshore in open seas up to a period of 6 hours sailing a day onboard a crew transfer vessel (CTV) Attend our offices before the start of an inspection campaign and organise / prepare / pack all equipment, tooling and accessories into certified lifting bags and load into our company vehicles ready for transportation Travel to any location in the UK driving a 4x4 pickup truck Drive in arduous off-road conditions at some UK onshore wind farms Undertake technical inspection services under supervision using a variety of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and use of portable scientific instruments to be performed on Vestas, Nordex, Siemens and Senvion platform wind turbines on all major mechanical and electrical components, ranging from 600 kW to 11 MW both onshore and offshore Register, complete and maintain personal training records on our clients' online safety induction web portals Complete all relevant paperwork and forms, including the client's AWP, toolbox talks, checklists etc. and maintain Windnostics' SHEQ records using iAuditor Software templates Carry out all duties and work instructions in accordance with Windnostics' submitted site-specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments Perform end-user PPE functional and safety checks and report on any damaged, malfunctioning or suspect PPE Comply with client's site rules and regulations in accordance to the latest Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) 2021 Fourth Edition Establish and maintain general safety and compliance with customer site rules Report all incidents and occurrences as per Windnostics' company SHEQ policies Basic troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems Undertake detailed remote visual (endoscope/borescope) inspections on gearboxes, main bearings and generators using an industrial-grade GE Waygate Mentor Visual iQ Endoscope Upload endoscope and digital camera images to Windnostics company server following completion of the inspection Collect oil and grease samples and complete accompanying report sheets in preparation for laboratory analysis Deliver oil samples and completed data sheets to our preferred oil sample analysis laboratory located in Ellesmere Port, Birkenhead Obtain accurate and consistent vibration and acoustic data in the field using a combination of SKF, RION and Bruel & Kjaer scientific instrument hardware Conduct thermographic inspections on electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems using an Avio InfReC R550Pro high-specification thermal imaging camera Upload all collected data into the appropriate software in preparation for analysis and reporting Compile and submit detailed technical reports using Windnostics' company Microsoft Word format templates and upload to Windnostics company server Partake in rota for on-call cover on weekends and bank holidays

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS



The role is open to anyone who is interested in applying, although preference will be given to ex-armed forces (British Army REME, Royal Navy Engineer Technician, Royal Air Force Engineer Technician); relatable industries involving electro-mechanical engineering, maintenance or non-destructive testing; existing electrical or mechanical qualifications and completed engineering apprenticeship; fault-finding/testing/laboratory quality control and inspecting experience; prior experience working on wind turbines will also be considered.

The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate a high level of the English language (minimum of B2 Vantage).

The role of a wind turbine field support technician will require a significant amount of travelling and time away from home. It is important to note that the candidate should be prepared to work away from home on a regular basis up to five consecutive days a week for onshore inspections and up to two weeks' away (+2 days travel) for overseas inspections. All expenses including working away allowances, offshore incentives, travel and subsistence payments are covered by the company in this instance.

AS A MINIMUM THE CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE OR BE WORKING TOWARDS:



Mid-level electrical and/or mechanical education, HNC / HND, NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline or time-served apprenticeship Ideally 1-2 years of hydraulic, electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting e.g., wind farms, power stations, industrial process plant or similar engineering background or laboratory quality control and testing environment Computer literate and IT proficient on MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) GCSEs (minimum grade C and above) in Maths, English and Science Valid UK / EU driving licence
