The Accounts Manager will be responsible for managing the financial records and accounting operations of an expanding company, with a current turnover of 10m . The role involves overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and decision-making. Experience in Construction an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
Oversee the daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP or IFRS.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Develop and monitor budgets, providing variance analyses and financial forecasts to support strategic planning.
Collaborate with department heads to align financial objectives with overall business goals.
Compliance & Audit:
Ensure all financial practices adhere to statutory laws and regulations in the UK.
Liaise with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare detailed financial reports and analysis for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
Use financial data to support decision-making processes and strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor a small team of accounting staff, ensuring effective performance and professional development.
Coordinate training and development programs for the accounting department.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for improving accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.
Implement best practices to streamline operations and enhance financial reporting accuracy.
Qualifications
Education:
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA are highly desirable.
Experience:
Proven experience in an accounting or finance role within an SME or similar environment, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial capacity.
Familiarity with UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.

Technical Proficiency:
Strong command of accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
Understanding of financial regulations and tax laws in the UK.
