First Steps Future Training is seeking a reliable and experienced Bookkeeper on a full-time basis to cover maternity leave. This is an office-based role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently with minimal supervision, to work alongside our busy administration team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage invoicing and bill payments accurately and on time
- Reconcile the bank and ensure records are up to date
- Maintain digital and physical filing systems for year-end accounts
- Use Xero and Dext systems for bookkeeping tasks
- Ensure all financial records are compliant with relevant legislation and internal policies
- Support the finance team with ad hoc duties as required
Requirements:
- Previous experience in bookkeeping is essential
- Proficiency with Xero and Dext is required
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work efficiently, use initiative, and meet deadlines without close supervision
- Understanding of GDPR and handling of sensitive financial data
- A reference from a previous employer is required due to the nature of the role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in finance or accounting

- Training on internal processes will be provided
- The role is based in-office
