Whilst this is a home-based opportunity, we are looking for someone either around the Yorkshire area to attend the Harrogate and Leeds offices on a regular basis or within a reasonable commute of Bury St Edmunds. Purpose of the Role This exciting remote opportunity has arisen to join us our Finance Integration & Change team reporting to our Head of Finance Integration & Change. You play a significant part in the Ardonagh Advisory Financial Control team by managing and coordinating external audit activity. We currently have over 200 entities and are continually growing with new acquisitions each year. This role is essential in ensuring the statutory timelines are met. Whilst mainly a project management role, this job requires someone with a strong understanding of the external audit process and will be able to not only coordinate the activity but problem solve and support the finance team with audit activities where needed. What you will do This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:

  • Coordinate all external audit activity across the Ardonagh Advisory platform.
  • Act as key point of contact for the external auditors, coordinating activity between them and the relevant finance teams.
  • Manage the audit timetable, ensuring teams adhere to deadlines and any issues escalated appropriately.
  • Manage the statutory accounts timetable and coordination of reviews and sign off.
  • Liaison with key finance teams on critical accounting issues.
  • Provide regular updates to the Financial Controllership senior team on the progress of the audit and any key risks and issues.
  • Support the finance team with audit activity where needed.
  • Develop a best practice approach to the audit management, so each year the process can be improved upon.
  • Lead on the coordination of activity around the annual R&D Tax claim.
  • Liaison with the wider business to identify R&D tax credit opportunities.
  • Support the wider finance team with any other project activities.
Who we are looking for We are looking for someone who has/is:
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified/QBE or equivalent.
  • MS Excel to an advanced level.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, CASS and UK GAAP accounting standards.
  • Experience of preparing or reviewing statutory accounts and involvement in year-end audits.
  • General understanding of wider finance activities, including tax, M&A and management reporting would also be beneficial.
  • Experience of within an insurance market would be desirable but not essential.
You will need to have hands-on experience of project management in a financial control environment as well as year end audits. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated, organised individual who works well under pressure, can pick up new systems and processes quickly and has the ability to motivate and train others. You will need to have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable, able to initiate, embrace and respond to changes positively, focusing on continuous improvement and driving operational excellence.
