We are now creating a brand-new NEO readiness team, which will be the backbone of the provision of service testing all the way through to business readiness over the next few years. This will not be without its challenges and will demand tenacity, outcome focus, and extraordinary adaptability. You'll stretch your skills portfolio like never before, tackling challenges head-on in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where being comfortable with being uncomfortable is essential.
Forming part of this NEO readiness, will be a team of Finance Specialists to provide inputs and value into the various projects and workstreams to undertake specific Workday process and service test activities, build the future service capacity, prepare for service implementation and deliver a future BAU service expected to go live in Summer 2026. These are exciting opportunities, especially since implementation and transformation programmes of this scale are rare. All roles will provide a fantastic insight and involvement into a complex implementation and change programme.
Your finance knowledge will be instrumental in these workstreams, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and best practice integration. You will be contributing to the transition from legacy systems to next-generation operations while aligning services with public sector needs and expectations.
Duties will include, but not limited to the following:
Testing
 Undertake specific end to end test activities across multiple phases on the Workday platform, providing input, feedback and support to the test team and wider UKSBS programme team including dependencies in other functional areas, eg payroll
 Contribute to service readiness and service acceptance, including creating and reviewing Standard Operating Processes and desk instructions to support future service delivery
Implementation
 Support the onboarding of new customers and undertake any required knowledge transfer from their current service providers
 As a Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for either Financial Accounting (General Ledger, Consolidation, VAT, Fixed Assets) or Accounts Payable, you will support the future team with complex queries, advice and build development pathways for individual team members
 Embrace and act as role model for new ways of working under the programme
Future BAU
 Following go live in Spring 2026, you will deliver first class service to new clients and customers on the Workday platform in line with the respective SLAs and KPIs
 Provide continued support and development to the team
 Actively support continuous improvement across the service boundaries and the application of automation and AI to deliver future effectiveness and efficiencies
To be considered for the role, you will need the following:
 Extensive experience and proven working knowledge gained within one of the following finance areas:
o Financial Accounting: General Ledger, Consolidation, Reconciliation and Reporting, VAT and Fixed Assets
o Accounts Payable
 Good knowledge of a SaaS ERP solution (Ideally Workday but other ERP solutions will be considered).
 Experience of working within test phases of project implementation
 A pro-active and problem-solving approach with a clear focus on delivery
 Confidence to challenge assumptions and flag risks proactively, offering practical solutions
 High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of data, processes and documentation
 Excellent stakeholder engagement
 Experience in using data-driven insights to inform operational improvements would be beneficial
 Team Management Experience
Understanding of government accounting is highly advantageous
