This role plays an integral part of Finance, operating and maintaining the core finance systems in support of finance processes and reporting cycle across the UK and internationally. This is a great opportunity to drive and participate in the delivery of change plan projects and continuous improvements across the business.

What you will be doing

Management of a small team. Responsible for owning the day-to-day maintenance and operation of core finance systems (including E5 and DIDOS) in support of the finance processes and reporting cycles including system reconciliations, data integrity and liaising with third party software vendors as required. Actively contribute to the system separation projects to ensure a full understanding of each system post separation of WHSmith and TG Jones. Provide systems support to the finance community, including the use of complex queries involving data interrogations across systems using front end queries and back-end SQL queries. Lead and participate in the delivery of project related activities with Finance, IT and third parties including new T G Jones initiatives. Ensure that system / data controls / processes meet the requirements of the external auditors. Ensure that system enhancements / upgrades are fully specified, tested and successfully completed. Maintaining accurate user access records to ensure audit compliance. Proactively identify and implement improvements to finance systems, including related processes, to increase efficiency and accuracy and ensure all changes are documented. Cover for and support the rest of the Finance Systems team.

Who we are looking for

Qualified Accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA. Strong Financial Accounting background. Highly IT literate, including knowledge and experience of SQL. An ability to analyse, interpret and present complex data to inform the business and make decisions. You should have strong interpersonal skills to build key relationships and work with people at all levels and functions within the business. Previous experience in a similar role. High attention to detail. Strong organising and prioritising skills. Confidence to challenge the current process and implement improvements. Medium to Advanced proficiency in the use of Excel
