Financial Accountant
Location: Trust HQ, Knockbracken Healthcare Park
Hours: Full-time, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm
Salary: 23.60 per hour
Contract: Temporary (3-6 months)
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will support the Head Accountant in delivering accurate financial accounting services, managing the annual accounts process for public, charitable, and patient funds, and ensuring compliance with Department of Health (DoH) financial guidance and internal governance standards.
You will play a pivotal role in maintaining robust financial control frameworks, supporting audit requirements, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation and delivery of the Trust's annual accounts (public, charitable, and patient funds).
  • Prepare Whole of Government Accounts and TFR E&S Returns to required standards and deadlines.
  • Maintain financial control frameworks and ensure timely reconciliation of control accounts.
  • Manage the capital accounting function and maintain the asset register.
  • Support relationships with BSO Shared Services (Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable).
  • Provide technical accounting advice and ensure compliance with DoH financial policies and guidance.
  • Liaise with internal and external audit teams, supporting audits and implementing recommendations.
  • Supervise Payments and Income functions, ensuring effective governance and financial accuracy.
  • Contribute to corporate governance, risk management, and financial reporting improvements.
What We're Looking For:
  • Full membership of one of the five professional accountancy bodies (CCAB or CIMA).
  • Minimum 1 year finance experience after completion of final accountancy exams.
  • At least 2 years' experience managing stakeholders and demonstrating leadership/governance skills.
  • Proven experience in analysing complex data, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering results.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and financial systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
