The North Berwick Golf Club is one of the longest established golf courses in the world and golf has been played over the West Links since the 17th century. A long-standing championship venue, North Berwick has hosted The Open, Final Qualifying and many other prestigious and international Championships. We have over 700 members and welcome 10,000+ visitors each year.
We are looking to recruit an experienced part time Financial Assistant to join our small Team in an enjoyable and flexible working environment.
Role Profile
The primary objective of the Financial Assistant is to ensure that the financial administration of the club is managed efficiently. Deliver the role in a way that ensures that all responsibilities are fulfilled in the most efficient and customer-focused method possible. The key to the role is always directed to providing the primary customer service objective whilst managing the below responsibilities in such a way that positively affects the Member's Club, experience, perception or visitor experience.
Experience:
The successful candidate will ideally be familiar with cloud-based accounting software for SMEs.
Have the ability to work effectively as part of a small, well-knit team whilst also having the ability to efficiently work alone
Have proven written and oral communication skills
An interest in sport, particularly golf, would be beneficial, but not essential
Key responsibilities:
Purchase Ledger
- Responsibility for the purchase ledger function, including:
Managing the processing of purchase invoices from the purchasing system on to QuickBooks ledger
Reconciliation of supplier statements to ledger balances
Setting up of monthly supplier payments in line with approved authorisation levels
Oversee the accounts inbox and resolve supplier queries in an effective and timely manner
Sales Ledger
Raising sales invoices
Chasing debtors
General Finance
Daily recording and reconciliation of all takings from EPOS points
Banking cheques and cash as necessary
Dealing with petty cash and performing monthly reconciliations
Credit card reconciliations and journal postings
Assisting with the annual subscription fee recording within Intelligent Golf and reconciliation to bank accounts
Supporting the finance team with general administrative tasks
Additional responsibilities:
Work closely with FC on any financial aspects of projects and plans
Ensure that all financial controls are always adhered to
Maintain and update the Club's Financial Procedures Manual
Work closely with the Club's Administration Controller and support during absence
To carry out any other reasonable tasks or duties as requested by the FC or General Manager
