About the Role



We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Financial Controller to lead and develop our finance department. This pivotal role will ensure the integrity of financial processes, reporting, and controls, while supporting strategic decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities



Lead, manage, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance and professional growth. Maintain and enhance a robust financial controls framework. Oversee and, where necessary, prepare routine financial transactions including: Month-end journal entries and trial balance review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes Prepare and review financial reports including: Monthly management accounts with variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations Departmental overhead cost reports and liaison with budget holders Board-level reporting packs Annual statutory financial statements and regulatory accounts Coordinate and manage the annual external audit process. Oversee cash management activities including: Cashflow forecasting Payment approvals

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise





The Individual



The successful candidate will be a commercially aware financial professional, a strategic thinker with a sharp eye for detail, and a passion for driving results. They will thrive in fast paced environments and combine technical expertise with hands-on problem solving.



Essential

ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with at least 4 years post-qualification experience, including 3+ years in industry. Proven experience managing a small finance team. Strong understanding of financial processes, controls, and compliance. Excellent IT skills, including proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable

Experience in the utilities sector Exposure to change management and systems implementation Familiarity with Sage 200
