Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Financial Controller to lead and strengthen our finance operations across 9 divisions and 6 group companies. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take full ownership of the month-end close, deliver clear and insightful management reporting, enhance financial controls, and play a key role in developing and mentoring a high-performing finance team.
This is a broad, influential role suited to a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys combining strategic oversight with operational involvement, and would relish making a valuable contribution to continued growth and development across our Group.
Responsibilities
Lead the month?end close and deliver accurate, timely management accounts
Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure strong financial control
Provide commercial analysis and meaningful insights to senior leadership
Oversee transactional finance: ledgers, credit control, payments, payroll, VAT/CIS, fixed assets and intercompany
Manage cash flow forecasting, daily banking and credit balances
Drive process and system improvements across multiple finance and operational platforms
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external auditors
Lead, mentor and develop a team of 10 (6 direct reports).
Experience
Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with solid post?qualification experience
Proven financial control experience outside of practice
Strong systems capability, including advanced Excel
Accurate accounting for Construction Contracts
Confident with FRS102, VAT, PAYE/NI, CIS and audit processes
Clear communicator able to influence both finance and non?finance colleagues
A proactive leader with excellent attention to detail and a drive for improvement
Experience managing and developing a team.
