We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our growing team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be ACCA or ACA fully qualified, possess strong technical accounting knowledge, and have a proven background in managing finance functions within the manufacturing sector. You will be responsible for the timely preparation of management accounts, reconciliation processes, HMRC compliance, and reporting to the board, while also supporting operational efficiency across the finance team.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Monthly Management Accounts:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
Prepare financial performance to senior management with clear variance analysis and commentary.
Reconciliations:
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations including bank, intercompany, accruals, and prepayments.
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Sales and Purchase Ledgers:
Liaise closely with the finance team to ensure efficient closure of sales and purchase ledgers at month-end.
Support improvements in accounts receivable and payable processes.
HMRC Returns & Reporting:
Ensure accurate and timely submission of VAT returns, PAYE, National Insurance, and other HMRC filings.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK tax regulations and ensure full compliance.
Cash Flow Forecasting:
Lead the preparation and maintenance of short- and long-term cash flow forecasts.
Monitor daily cash flow positions and advise management on funding requirements.
Board Reporting:
Prepare high-quality financial reports for the board of directors, including key financial metrics, trend analysis, and business insights.
Support board meetings with data and financial commentary.
Team Leadership:
Support and mentor junior finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous development.
Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional financial operations.

Essential and Desirable Skills
Fully qualified ACCA or ACA accountant.
Strong background in manufacturing or production-based industries.
In-depth knowledge of HMRC compliance, and financial reporting standards.
Proficient in financial systems and packages.
Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Business Central.
Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Experience in cost accounting, stock control, or job costing within a manufacturing setting.
