Lead and develop the Financial Accounting Team providing high quality and comprehensive Financial and Regulatory reporting, and robust day to day financial management of London City Airport. Ensuring an appropriate and sustainable control environment.
Key Success Criteria (Expected Outcomes)
Provision of statutory accounts and regulatory reports to required deadlines for all group companies.
Statutory accounts are accurate and prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards and policies.
Efficient and effective running of the LCY financial accounts, transaction processing (AP and AR), treasury and capital functions ensuring attainment and retention of 'good' internal control reviews.
Implementation and maintenance of a continuous improvement strategy and culture
Compliance with accounting, audit, tax and legal requirements within area of responsibility.
Management and monitoring of debt covenants to ensure continued compliance with debt obligations.
Sufficient liquidity is available through active treasury management.
Sought out by the business as an internal advisor/consultant on appropriate technical accounting treatments
Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and updated to reflect the changing business needs of the company.
Positive interaction with Financial Planning to ensure consistent accuracy of Balance sheet & cashflow forecast.
Key Result Areas (How Expected Outcomes will be achieved)
Manage the Group's financial reporting requirements, including review and filing of financial statements across UK and Jersey jurisdictions.
Maintain professional relationships with external and internal auditors to ensure smooth audit compliance processes, timely filing of accounts and implementation of recommendations.
Ensure compliance with the Group's debt covenant requirements, including review of financial ratios, reporting to ledgers on covenant compliance, monitoring loan and interest balances and requesting loan drawdowns where business needs require.
Primary responsibility for all Treasury functions within the Group. This includes managing cash and working capital to ensure sufficient cash resources are available to meet business needs, hedging of the Group's interest rate exposure, maintaining relationships with the Group's lenders, financial advisors, hedge counterparties and banking service providers.
Ensure the group's compliance with Tax Law (including Income tax, VAT, CIS compliance, employment taxes. This includes managing the relationship with the Group's tax advisors, ensuring all tax filings are made in a timely manner. Ensuring that tax impacts are assessed and incorporated into commercial transactions and decision making.
Oversight of month end processes, including AP and AR close, month end postings, consolidation adjustments and review of month end financials and reports.
Assisting in managing the Group's capital expenditure programme including review of capex business cases, providing accounting advice and formal review and approval of all capital expenditure.
Establish, maintain and develop best financial practice through the implementation of controls, procedures, ERP improvements and delegated financial authority for LCY.
Ensure that changes to accounting, audit and tax law is incorporated into the operations and reporting for the Group.
Provide effective leadership and development of the Financial Control team creating an engaged and high performing team to meet the business challenges.
Act as business change agent proactively identifying and implementing process improvements within the team and across the business.
Develop and maintain an 'end to end' process view and understanding of cross functional impacts both within the department and across the business.

The post holder is expected to work with the following key stakeholders; CFO, Board and Audit Committee, Shareholders, all LCY employees (including Directors and managers) and other third parties (including tax advisors, insurers, HMRC, Auditors, Bankers and Lenders)
Knowledge
Degree or equivalent
ACA (or equivalent) Qualified Accountant, with significant post qualification experience
Good technical knowledge of UK GAAP, Corporation Tax and VAT
Working knowledge of International Accounting Standards
Experience with debt covenant reporting and cashflow management
A strong working knowledge of financial systems, controls and improvements
Skills
Ability to influence at all levels of the business
Ability to identify and proactively solve problems
Excellent interpersonal and people management and development skills to motivate and enhance performance of the team
Excellent presentation skills and an ability to explain complex financial issues to a non-financial audience
Experience
Significant experience in senior management positions
Management of Financial Accounting departments
Driven improvement in control environment and effectiveness of Financial Accounting team.
Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams of qualified, part-qualified and non-qualified accountants
Evidence of commercial awareness and able to demonstrate a broad-based view of issues, events and activities and a perception of their longer term impact or wider implications
Experience of an airport or similar transport industry (advantageous but not essential)
Hours of Work:
The role operates on a Monday to Friday basis, 09:00 to 17:30, however some flexibility is required
