About the role



This is a newly created role at Studio B Production, introduced as a direct result of continued growth and increasing commercial complexity across the business. As we scale, we are looking to appoint an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to strengthen our financial leadership, introduce robust processes, and support the business through its next phase of development. The Financial Controller will report directly to the CEO and work closely with our fractional finance partners, acting as the senior in-house financial lead. This is a highly visible and influential role, requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. The role will be based full-time at our modern production studios in Mill Hill, North West London, working closely alongside the leadership, production, and creative teams.

The opportunity



This is not a traditional back-office finance role. We are looking for someone who brings their own vision, challenges thinking where needed, and can operate confidently within a fast-paced, creative environment led by a young and ambitious CEO. You will play a key role in shaping how finance supports the business, from building scalable processes and controls through to partnering with production and leadership teams to drive profitability, margin discipline, and commercial decision-making.

Key responsibilities



Strategic & leadership responsibilities



Act as the senior financial lead within the business, partnering closely with the CEO on financial strategy, forecasting, and decision-making Work collaboratively with our fractional finance partners to ensure alignment, accuracy, and best practice Design, implement, and continuously improve financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks suitable for a growing creative business Provide clear, confident financial insight and challenge where appropriate, supporting the leadership team to make informed commercial decisions

Production & commercial finance



Work closely with the Head of Production and the production team to support the creation, monitoring, and management of monthly production budgets Ensure producers understand budget structures, cost control, margin expectations, and financial accountability Track production spend against budgets, highlighting risks, overspends, and margin erosion early Support the business in maintaining profitable productions through strong financial oversight and clear reporting

Financial operations & control



Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including:

+ Management accounts preparation and analysis
+ Cash flow forecasting and working capital management
+ Balance sheet integrity
+ Month-end and year-end close processes
Ownership of the finance system (Xero), ensuring data integrity, accurate reporting, and efficient use of the platform Approve and oversee payroll, including pay runs and related reporting Ensure accurate invoicing, credit control, and revenue recognition Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, and advisors Support statutory reporting, tax compliance, and audit processes

Governance & growth support



Ensure appropriate financial controls and governance are in place as the business scales Support commercial negotiations and contract financials where required Contribute to longer-term planning around structure, systems, and resourcing within finance

About you



Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally within a creative, production, media, or fast-growth environment Strong working knowledge of Xero and confidence operating in a cloud-based finance environment Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate numbers into clear, actionable insight Confident, resilient personality with the ability to work effectively alongside a young, creative CEO and senior stakeholders Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on, with a genuine appetite to build and improve processes * Clear communicator who can influence non-finance teams and bring financial understanding to the wider business
