At Opus 4, we are a successful commercial workspace Design and Fit out company, who have repeatedly grown over last 5 years, and looking for further significant growth in the next 5 years. Currently we're fitting out our new head office in Manchester.

Role overview

This role is based in our Head office in Manchester, reporting to the Financial Director. As Finance Controller at Opus 4, you will play a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of the business. This is a hands on role suited to a commercially minded finance professional, who enjoys working closely with senior management of other teams, improving processes and driving efficiencies. You will be responsible for ensuring strong financial governance across the business while developing scalable systems and reporting as the company continues its growth journey.

This role offers a clear progression pathway over the next 5 years, so we're looking for someone who is proactive in owning their responsibilities while being motivated by the opportunity to grow and develop with the business.

General responsibilities

The role entails:

Month-end reporting and ownership of budgeting and forecasting. Prepare detailed financial reports, budgets, and forecast models. Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic business decisions. Analysis of balance sheet and profit & loss statements. Monitor cash flow, reconcile accounts, and maintain financial records. Credit control and Payment runs. VAT returns and liaise with Payroll bureau. Develop and maintain financial performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms. Automate and develop the transaction side of the accounts. Assist in cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives. Conduct adhoc financial analysis and special projects as required. Provide actionable financial insights to senior management.

Ideal candidate

Self-motivated, proactive, dedicated, and organised individual to join our committed team in the pursuit of excellence. Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent. 3-5 years of experience in management accounting or financial analysis. Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail. Advanced Excel and financial reporting tools skills. Knowledge of Sage 50 and its development is advantageous.
