Working to the Head of Financial Services, this is an opportunity to gain valuable experience as a finance leader within the Trust and of the financial services function.
You will be responsible for delivering and developing the financial services offer to the organisation and will be a key figure in the Trust achieving long term sustainability.
It is an exciting time to join the Trust as it is also part of the new hospitals programme, and we are at the outline business case stage for a new hospital on the Hillingdon site.
The finance function is based at Mount Vernon hospital and the post holder will be expected to work at both Mount Vernon and Hillingdon hospitals, as well as remote working from home.
Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the management and performance of the Financial Services Department which provides a comprehensive financial accounting service to the Hillingdon Hospitals Foundation Trust. This encompasses financial accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury management (including banking), cashiering and charitable funds.
  • To assist in co-ordinating and strategically developing a professional financial accounting service to the Trust in an effective and efficient manner in compliance with statutory and Department of Health guidelines.
  • Ensure efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus of financial systems and processes.
  • Ensure all statutory/ NHS accounts and NHSE returns are accurate and meet financial timescales and legal requirements.
  • Assist in the compilation of business plans and financial forecasts to allow the Trust to determine its future policy in relation to stated objectives.
  • Investigate and advise on highly complex issues and lead on corporate reporting / providing strategic financial and business planning advice.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
