We now have an exciting opportunity for a
Financial Controller
to join our Portsmouth HQ and take full ownership of the finance function.
The Role
We're looking for a commercially minded, detail-driven Financial Controller who thrives in a hands-on environment. You'll oversee all core finance functions while also contributing to operational decisions, IT and legal compliance.
This is not just a reporting role -- it's a
business-critical position
that will see you influence strategy, improve systems, and ensure the company maintains a healthy financial foundation as it scales.
Key Responsibilities
Produce accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial reports
Monitor cash flow, margin performance, and key KPIs
Lead budgeting and forecasting in alignment with strategic goals
Oversee all accounting functions including AP, AR, and reconciliations
Ensure timely and accurate VAT, PAYE, and HMRC submissions
Maintain and review insurance policies and ensure adequate coverage across the business
Manage legal and regulatory compliance (including contracts, GDPR, and risk mitigation)
Contribute to pricing and margin analysis, cost control, and supplier terms
Liaise with external accountants and prepare for audits
Support the wider operations and leadership team in strategic decision-making
Line management of finance staff and participation in senior leadership meetings
What We're Looking For
ACCA / ACA qualified or equivalent
5+ years' experience in a similar FC or senior finance role
Strong commercial understanding - not just reporting, but decision-making support
Proven ability to lead financial functions in a growing SME
High-level Excel skills; knowledge of Odoo ERP is a plus
Strong communication and leadership skills
A proactive, organised and reliable approach to workload and deadlines
Experience with legal compliance, insurance reviews, and multi-national finance is an advantage
