Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to take full ownership of financial operations in an established engineering business. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role, ideal for a proactive finance professional who enjoys both strategic oversight and day-to-day financial management.

The successful candidate will manage cashflow, month-end and year-end close, management reporting, VAT, payroll, and audit, while ensuring strong financial controls and compliance. You will also implement and track financial KPIs to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Cashflow forecasting and monitoring Monthly management accounts, including variance analysis Month-end and year-end close processes Coordination with auditors and preparation of statutory accounts Day-to-day accounting, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and VAT returns Budgeting and forecasting, tracking performance against budget Strengthening internal controls and monitoring KPIs Identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency

Experience & Qualifications:

Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) - highly desirable Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, ideally in an engineering or manufacturing business Strong hands-on experience with cashflow, management reporting, VAT, payroll, month-end, year-end, and audit processes Familiarity with Sage or similar accounting systems such as QuickBooks or Xero Highly organised, detail-focused and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 50,000.00-60,000.00 per year
