We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the organisation's financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, stock, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a strong background in financial management, proficiency in various accounting software, and the ability to lead financial strategies effectively. The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation's growth and financial stability.
The company is based on two sites, one in Stoke on Trent and the other near Shepton Mallet. The job role is based in Shepton Mallet, but occasional visits maybe required to our factory in Stoke. The successful applicant will need a car and full driving licence. The job is part time (3 days per week).
The company is a ceramics manufacturer and makes the brand Cornishware which it sells mainly on line but also to key retailers such as Liberty, Harrods and Vogue.
Responsibilities
Oversee all financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely processing
Maintain and update financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks and Unleashed S similar platforms
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with recognised standards
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies
Analyse financial data to identify trends and provide strategic insights for decision-making
Lead audits and liaise with external auditors as required
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard organisational assets
Assist in the development of organisational financial strategies and policies

Experience
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
Extensive knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks, Unleashed or comparable systems
Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices
Experience managing accounts payable and receivable processes
Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate financial reports and statements
Prior experience in leading audit processes and ensuring regulatory compliance
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
