Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Financial Controller is responsible for managing all day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring full compliance with UK accounting standards, accurate reporting, and robust financial controls. The post holder will oversee budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, and reporting, while supporting senior leadership through high-quality financial insight.

A minimum of 1 years' experience working with SAP Business One (SAP B1) is essential to this role, as this system is central to the Company's financial processes.

Experience within a manufacturing environment is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations & Reporting

Oversee daily finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management. Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts in line with UK GAAP. Prepare P&L, balance sheet, cashflow statements, and variance analysis. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare year-end audit files and liaise with external auditors.

SAP Business One (SAP B1) - Required

Manage, maintain, and optimise SAP B1 financial processes. Ensure accurate data entry, system integrity, and compliance within SAP. Create financial reports, dashboards, and analysis within SAP. Train and support finance staff in SAP B1 usage. Work closely with IT and system providers to troubleshoot and improve SAP functionality

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning

Lead annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting. Provide rolling forecasts and financial modelling to support strategy and decision-making. Analyse performance against budget and highlight risks or opportunities. Partner with managers across the business to improve cost control and financial accountability.

Controls, Compliance & Governance

Maintain strong internal financial controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Oversee VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, and statutory filings. Review and improve finance policies, processes, and documentation. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and accounting standards.

Manufacturing (Desirable Experience)

Understanding of manufacturing financial processes such as: Cost of goods sold (COGS) Bill of Materials (BOM) Stock valuation Production costing WIP reporting Ability to work with operational teams to improve cost accuracy and margin reporting.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Required

Minimum 1 years' experience using SAP Business One (SAP B1) Minimum 2 years' experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role Fully/part qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or QBE with strong technical experience Strong understanding of UK GAAP and financial compliance Proven experience managing month-end and year-end processes Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities

Desirable

Experience in a manufacturing or production environment Experience implementing process improvements or system enhancements Team management or supervisory experience Experience working in a multi-site organisation
