Role Overview:
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a dynamic Finance Director to shape and lead financial operations across a suite of complex, high-value, and long-term projects. You will be responsible for end-to-end financial management--cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and internal reporting--while ensuring alignment with corporate goals. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to business leaders and operational teams, offering critical input across multiple project phases, including those with delayed revenue realisation.
The role requires strong industry knowledge and the ability to manage finance within a project-based commercial model. You should have experience supporting operational and commercial decision-making across varied projects, with a blend of financial acumen and project management capability.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the full financial lifecycle of projects: from setup and budgeting to closure and post-delivery reporting.
Develop and oversee planning, forecasting, and controlling activities across all project phases.
Manage internal cost control processes and oversee project accountancy functions.
Provide high-level financial reporting and variance analysis to senior stakeholders.
Ensure robust SAP-based project setup and data integrity (cost centres, WBS, etc.).
Act as a key point of contact for finance-related operational input and performance reviews.
Lead budgeting processes and quarterly reforecasting in partnership with department heads.
Oversee compliance with internal controls, audit preparation, and process standardisation.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and project leads.
Candidate Requirements:
Proven experience
in a
senior finance leadership
role (e.g., Finance Director, Financial Controller).
Industry-specific
knowledge is essential--ideally in manufacturing, engineering, or technology.
SAP expertise essential
- deep understanding of financial and project modules.
Extensive background in controlling, forecasting, budgeting, and project accounting.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders in the UK and Germany.
Project management orientation or cross-functional project experience is highly desirable.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
Demonstrated experience with project-driven financial models, including delayed revenue recognition.
Approachable, adaptable, and personable--strong interpersonal skills and cultural fit are key.
Ability to lead through change and work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Willingness to travel, including onboarding and collaboration trips to Germany.
