We're looking for a strategic and forward-thinking finance professional to step into a newly created Financial Planning & Analysis Manager role within BMJ's central Finance Team. This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead BMJ's financial planning cycles, owning the budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and high-impact financial reporting that supports decision-making at the highest levels.


In this pivotal role, you'll build and refine a best-in-class framework that not only drives core financial processes but also delivers insightful commercial narratives across the organisation. You'll use both traditional reporting and modern visualisation and analytics tools to bring data to life, helping teams across BMJ better understand performance, trends, and opportunities.


Working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, you'll integrate financial, market, and product insights to support BMJ's strategic direction. With the trust and visibility that comes with this position, you'll also have the opportunity to deputise for the Finance Director on key matters related to forecasting and financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities



Lead a high-impact budgeting process

that's transparent, collaborative, and clearly understood across the business, delivering timely, well-structured plans that not only meet stakeholder needs but tell a compelling financial story at GLT and Board level.

Drive meaningful insight through consistent, high-quality reporting

, giving business leaders a clear view of portfolio performance and actionable intelligence to optimise outcomes and uncover new opportunities.

Design and embed a best-practice financial reporting framework

, covering systems, tools, templates, and guidance to ensure every finance output is polished, professional, insightful, and aligned with business needs.

Foster a collaborative, insight-driven reporting culture

, working across data teams, finance business partners, and leadership to deliver an evolving suite of high-value, forward-looking reports.

Champion alignment across finance functions

, ensuring seamless collaboration between business partnering and management accounting teams to enhance influence, build trust, and drive impactful financial decisions.

Turn insight into action

, using analysis and forecasting to recommend business improvements, crystallise cost efficiencies, and shape stronger commercial strategies

Skills, Experience & Qualifications



Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA or CIMA 4+ years post qualified accountancy experience within an FP&A team Proven track record of delivering financial planning and analysis processes to time and expectation The ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple, impactful way Proven ability to act autonomously where appropriate Strong influencing skills to align best practice across teams Excellent, polished communicator to members of staff at all levels * Excellent Excel skills
