Finishing Operative

SALARY:

12.45 per hour

DAYS/HOURS:

39 Hours per week - Days (Monday - Friday)

Monday - Wednesday 7.30am - 4.30pm

Thursday 7.30am - 4pm

Friday 7.30am - 1pm

Finishing Supervisor

JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated general operative to join our Finishing Department who is willing to learn and develop in a manufacturing environment.

The role will involve working as part of a team; demonstrating flexibility with a willingness to learn and embrace new skills.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a keen eye for detail and dexterity in handling small parts.

Previous experience of working in a Manufacturing environment producing small parts and operating machinery is desired but not essential, as full training will be provided.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cut off parts from sand foundry & Lost Wax (remove runner systems and feeds as per route card instructions)

Start-up checks to carry out each shift (training given)

PPE will be provided to include respiratory helmets and filters

When processing parts ensure alloy is kept separate each time and weights recorded of castings and any runner /feeders cut off, this may be with production cards or sample packs (training and instruction will be given)

Processing of internal revert (cutting large castings and tools up into smaller usable sizes for use Internally)

Processing external bought in melting (cutting up into usable sizes for internal use and external use)

Developing skills over time to include operations in the following:

shot blasting units, hanging blaster sand foundry and hanging blast in Lost Wax, operation of bench cutting units in the sand foundry and Lost Wax

Fettle metal castings, according to materials, sizes and shapes of workpieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes

Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are achieved

Trim, scrape, or deburr objects or parts, using chisels, scrapers, and other hand tools and equipment, including grinders and Meggitt belts/grinders

Ensure all work is carried out safely Ensure all equipment is in a safe and serviceable condition Enforce and promote safety and housekeeping in your area of work

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/KEY REQUIREMENTS:

Prior experience in a manufacturing environment desired Be able to maintain a neat and organised work area Always working with safety in mind and comply with EHS policies
